Another Custom London Blue Topaz Ring!
August 18, 2015
Apparently, London Blue Topaz is #trending. A nice young man came in a couple of weeks ago and said he wanted a Deco style ring with a London blue topaz. That means “time to make it custom!” He picked from our selection of Art Deco style mountings and we ordered him a custom cut stone. It turned out lovely, don’tchyathink?
Kerrie C. – Family Stone with a Split Shank in Rose Gold
June 25, 2014
Kerrie, another of our favorite longtime customers, had a pair of her father’s cufflinks that she wasn’t using and wanted to repurpose. The stones were vintage, foilbacked lemon colored rhinestones, and she wanted to make a ring. Asking that we use Hayden Panettiere’s engagement ring as an inspiration, away we went!
Using white topaz in place of diamond, we designed this ring, with a traditional split shank, in 14K rose gold. Her response, “Oh my God, it’s GORGEOUS! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
Elizabeth G. – Custom Pink Tourmaline and Diamond Ring
May 17, 2014
Elizabeth, who got her engagement ring from us in 2005, came in one day and asked, “Do you guys have any loose stones?” We showed her what we had, and having an affinity for vivid colors, she immediately fell in love with a large, oval cut pink tourmaline. She said, “I want this stone. Will you guys make me a mounting for it?”
We’d like to say we immediately went to work, but we didn’t — Elizabeth did. The next week included a lot of e-mails back and forth and culminated with Elizabeth walking in with approximately 30 printouts of rings she found and liked online. We decided on a classic diamond adorned split shank design with split prongs in white gold. She wanted the side of the ring to be carved, giving it an interesting texture.
We documented nearly every step of the journey: wax casting, metal casting, diamond setting, and the finished product.
