A New (old) Ring for Heather

February 6, 2015 @ 1:39 pm

Heather’s a client of ours whom we’ve never met. She found us through our Etsy store and we’ve made three custom pieces for her. Here’s the latest.

Heather sent us a picture of this ring (below) and said “I found this online. I love the style. Could you do something similar in diamonds?” Of course we could.

Heather's inspiration. A diamond and emerald bypass ring she found online.

Some people would call us hoarders — we preferĀ preservationists. We happened to have a lovely old Victorian bypass mounting kicking around the shop. We also happened to have two diamonds which would fit perfectly in the mounting. It was important to her that the diamonds be Old European cut, and these fit the bill.

The ring came back today, and boy is it stunning! A genuinely old mounting… with genuinely old diamonds… you’d never know the ring was put together in 2015.

Voila!

Old European Cut Diamond with a Sapphire and Diamond Halo

December 3, 2014 @ 2:45 pm

Surrounded by a halo of sapphires and diamonds, an approximately quarter carat Old European Cut diamond is bezel set in 14K white gold. Three small diamonds go down the top of the shank, and the band itself is petite (2mm). Would make an excellent engagement ring; it sits low to the hand but has plenty of presence. Available on West End and online at Etsy.

Custom Ring for Zach and Perry

November 19, 2014 @ 1:20 pm

Zach came in this past summer looking for mountings for his then girlfriend’s engagement ring. He had his own diamond, and needed to find the perfect setting for it. He fell in love with one of our hand made Art Deco style mountings, but what he didn’t like was the color of the metal. Art Deco jewelry was practically always white, and he and his girlfriend had their heart set on yellow.

So we went to work!

We presented the mounting to Zach, made in 18K yellow gold, and he fell in love. We got an email about a week ago, with pictures, saying that he popped the question and she said *drumroll* YES! We’re so happy for them, and we’re especially happy to have found them the perfect ring!

Kathy C. – A Repurposing of Family Stones

September 25, 2014 @ 3:29 pm

Kathy C. inherited quite a few pieces of jewelry from her mother, including her Mother’s ring. While she cherished those rings, they were not her style, and she gave them to us and said, basically, “make something more me. Whatever you want.” — Knowing Kathy was fun, a little bit crazy, and loved color, we made a bicolor swirl of gold, with diamonds from one ring on one side and the colored stones from her Mother’s ring on the other. She loved it. And so do we!
